The Department of Philosophy is proud to announce that four former PhDs recently accepted tenure-track jobs or other positions as assistant professors.

Former PhD, lecturer, and academic advisor, Seungil Lee has accepted a tenure-track position at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul, South Korea. His appointment is 50% in the Department of Philosophy and 50% in the Division of AI and Data Science. His primary interests occupy the intersection of physics and metaphysics. 

Recent PhD graduate Ashli Anda has accepted an offer as a lecturer in the philosophy department at California Lutheran University. She will be teaching a class called Oppression and Liberation and will also teach Latin American philosophy. It’s been a goal of Anda’s to work for a Hispanic Serving Institution like California Lutheran University since she attended one as an undergraduate student. Anda recently successfully defended her dissertation “A Kantian Nonideal Theory of Punishment.” 

This news follows former PhD student Addison Ellis' acceptance of a position as an assistant professor in the Department of Philosophy at the American University in Cairo last fall. His research is focused on Kant and post-Kantian European Philosophy (especially Heidegger). 

Additionally, former PhD student Amber Polk, who is currently an assistant professor of law at Florida International University, has accepted a  tenure-track position as an assistant professor of law at the University of Alabama in the fall. Polk’s research focuses on rights-based environmentalism, as a legal, political, and moral movement.
