Donate to Philosophy

We are proud of the many accomplishments of our talented, nationally and internationally recognized faculty who produce groundbreaking scholarship and provide a superior educational experience for students in our two undergraduate programs (BALAS in Philosophy and BSLAS in Computer Science + Philosophy) and also our PhD program. Our undergraduate students are intellectually engaged, inside and outside the classroom, and are trained in methods of interdisciplinary study, strong critical thinking skills and written and oral communication, rigorous thought and reasoning, creative problems solving and deliberation. This prepares them to go on to successful careers in a wide variety of fields, as well as further study in graduate school, law school, and medical school. It prepares them to be especially effective citizens.

As one of the oldest departments on campus, which is central to the liberal artswe are excited about the vitality of our department’s mission and welcome your generous investment in it. To understand some aspects of our mission, and how they might dovetail with your values, please see the Illinois Philosophy Guiding Principles. Support from our Philosophy alumni and friends can help us provide the best possible learning and research environment for our students and faculty members and support these important missions. Your donations will allow us to:

  • Offer scholarships to academically strong undergraduate and graduate students, as well as to those with financial need, including first-generation and under-represented students
  • Recruit and retain the best faculty members
  • Provide state-of-the-art facilities that house important research and teaching
  • Provide  professional development opportunities for our students

Please consider donating in support of any of these areas through a gift to department. Your gift is tax deductible as allowed by law. Click here to see the various fund options for your gift, as well as the funds’ purposes. We thank you for your continued support for our important missions.
